Open Door Projects is pleased to present our inaugural public event, a pop-up theater located in the LA river walkway just off Ventura Blvd. and Whitsett. The community screening will be held from 7pm- 9pm and will feature the modern American classic, “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arch” by Director Steven Spielberg.   In the wake of recent political events, the presence of a domestic cultural divide has become increasingly palpable. In moments like these, our communities need forums to better cope with indifference and atrocities, like those committed in Charlottesville, Virginia. We hope to offer a local congregation for those frustrated with the recent proliferation of neo-Nazi rallies and hate speech.   Local residents are invited to watch as the fate of cultural relics are determined by the battle between treasure-hunting academic, Indiana Jones, and the Nazi party. As audiences’ re-live cinematic nostalgia, they are encouraged to contemplate on-going debates over our nations historical monuments as well as the values of those groups who seek to preserve or destroy them. We hope this provides viewers with the ability to connect with others while relieving tensions through open dialogue.
